collaged handcrafted paper
Sandra J. Pineault

The concept of the space between is one that can help us move from our safety net.
When we take a hiatus from the usual and go "out to play" who knows
where it will lead.  I am on such a space trip now in my work. I am babying my back and ribcage problem with walks and working on something else entirely: memoirs.

Ancient Memories was composed of layered, stained papers and found objects.
Working with collage is like childhood
puzzle building.  One moves things around like checkers over days or even months until
the right arrangements are made.  This is a welcome relief from the demands of painting.

Try this with a bunch of found objects, former pieces of paintings and drawings
and see what you can come up with. You will be surprised what little gems are hiding in your art room.
Play it slow, though, without demand.
Let it compose itself until the visual melody lets you love it and accept it.

Kind of like life???

  1. OMGosh Sandy...this is an amazing piece. I am sharing it with my friends.

  2. Thank you for your comment, Rebecca. I love this type of organize collage, fitting it out with bits and pieces of found treasures...
